Get closer to one of our greatest studio potters by holding the pots he made. These jugs, mugs, plates feel the same now in all respects as when Michael Cardew first lifted them from the kiln. Feel his pleasure at the things that worked well, his disappointment at the things that went wrong.
Cardew's thirteen year project at Winchcombe Pottery was pioneering and courageous with the small team having to learn through costly errors and accidental triumphs. The story of those pioneering years is written in the pieces we still have, if you know how to read the pots.
Gain insights from our Trustees Lawrence Osborne and Helen Brown and hold and inspect a number of early Winchcombe pots yourself during this special event at Queen Anne House limited to just ten places.
You can also bring Winchcombe pots from your own collection if you would like to find out more about them.
